Guillot-Broux Macon-Cruzille "Les Perrieres" 2020
With nearly 50 year old vines, this wine is near perfection. Replanted
after the vineyard was ravaged by phylloxera, it has been organically
farmed ever since, certified in 1991. Emmanuel Guillot uses ambient
yeast, gravity to fill barrels, of which only 10% are new. This wine is
incredible...wave after wave of nectarine, honeydew, sarsaparilla, asian
pear have texture, but also tension. That minerally, acid-driven
freshness leads the way to the complexity and depth. This wine
typically needs a couple years (or a bit of decanting) and can age for
over a decade effortlessly. Wow!
