Proprietors: Giacomo, Mariacristina and Mariavittoria Oddero
The Oddero family has roots that go back to the end of 18th century making beautiful, traditional wines from thier vineyards which are located in some of the most important sites in the Barolo and Barbaresco zones. "It is hard to say for sure exactly when our winemaking began. 18th century muncipal records show that the vineyards and estate have belonged to the Oddero family for centuries. Documents, notarial deeds and pictures can take us back as far as our ancestors Lorenzo, Luigi and Giovanni Battista (1794-1874), who between the 18th and 19th centuries started making wine from the grapes of our vineyards located around La Morra, a picturesque hill-town with views out over the whole Alta Langa."
The Oddero's first sold their wine in small casks and demijohns, but in 1878 began selling their own wines in bottle. Today the winery is run today by sisters Mariacristina and Mariavittoria, who are passionate about wine. They took over from their father Giacomo and are assisted by their children, whose youth gives freshness and innovation to the wisdom of tradition. Isabella, Mariavittoria's daughter, is the latest member of the family to join the team, travelling and presenting the wines to clients all over the world.
We have worked with this winery for years, visiting them in Piedmont and having them here on numerous occasions. This winery is a consistent source of traditional Piemontese wines from the deliciously juicy and ready to drink Barbera d'Alba to their incredible single vineyard, ageworthy Barolos and Barbarescos, there is something for every lover of classically styled wines from the great region of Italy.
