Lunae Ciliegiolo Liguria di Levante Rosso IGT 2023
From steeply sloped vines in Liguria comes this indigenous vartietal of the area that is rarely seen here in the US. But damn if it didn't leave a helluva impresson on me! Ciliegiolo is "cherry" in Italian (ciligia) and it's a mighty fine choice to name this grape and it delivers pronounced aromas and flavors of deep black cherry, hints of
spice and a touch of the savory underbrush type notes in the background.
It's like Pinot Noir with a touch more "Oomph" with moderate alc (13.5%) and is a fantastic red to enjoy now though 2029.
