Los Bermejos Malvasia Volcanica Seco 2023
Malvasía Volcánica is a grape that is truly indigenous to the Canary Islands and its unique terroir. A volcanic explosion that lasted from 1730-1736 covered the entire island in lava and ash 3-5 meters deep. The volcanic ashes (also called “picon”) that cover the topsoil help retain water and protect the delicate vines from from the scorching sun. This wine, from winemaker Ignacio Valdera, is textured, crisp, mineral, and bright, with lush floral notes and hints of white peach and Asian pear on the palate, backed by a mouthwatering, salty finish. This is a great partner for fish and shellfish, rice dishes and grilled chicken.
