The vineyards in Castagnole Monferrato sit on a mix of sandy soils and tufa stone, meaning the vines dig deep for nutrients, keeping them cool and stress-free during those sizzling summers. Ruchè itself was on the brink of extinction until a village parish priest brought it back to life in 1980. This bottle is a perfect example of what makes Ruchè so special – think juicy red fruits like cherry, blackberry, raspberry, and sour plum, with a bouquet of wildflowers that hits you right in the nose. On the palate, it’s all about plush plum jam, a hint of savory spice, and fine tannins. You’ll pick up a lovely minerality and herbal notes that add a refreshing complexity, all balanced out by fresh acidity and a fine mineral backbone.
