Mario Fontana began his winery with just 4 hectares of vines in 1995
acquired through inheritance. Mario has taken that bit of good fortune
and made wines that are so much great than the raw materials he was
bequeathed. And his Barbera 2021 is super sexy. As Mario states,
"Barbera truly represents the lifeblood of the people of the Langhe."
And this essential red is dynamic -- filled with wild berries, black and
blue, lead pencil and spices. With enough structure to age for up to a
decade, this is a phenomenal bottle of wine to enjoy now through 2034.
