Chacra Chardonnay "Mainque" Patagonia 2022
Jean-Marc Roulot is known as the Chardonnay whisperer… His White Burgundies from Meursault are the "Gold Standard" that every other producer in the world hopes to one day achieve. Jean-Marc teamed up with Piero Incisa della Rocchetta of Sassicaia fame and are crafting stunningly delicious wines under the label, Chacra. The Mainque Chardonnay 2021 is a remarkable wine and a great way to experience the magic of Roulot without the price tag of Roulot. The Mainqué Chardonnay is a selection of three parcels in sandier soil
with a combination of sand, clay, pebbles, and pebbles covered in calcareous matter. The wine is fermented in 25/30% new barrels (the same barrels Jean-Marc Roulot uses in Meursault) and does not go completely through malo. The Roulot touch is clearly evident here with waves of tropical fruits, creme brulee, stony minerality and orange zest. Long and detailed, enjoy now through 2029.
