We are thrilled to introduce two GEMS from South America for June’s Wine of the Month selections. Spanning the continent, we have a juicy Tannat from Canelones in the South part of Uruguay, the Vina Progresso Revolution Tannat 2020, and an easy-drinking chillable Criolla from Mendoza Argentina, Cara Sur Criolla Chica 2020.
There's a limited supply on both - but you are guaranteed a pair of these if you are a loyal Wine of the Month member. And if you are not, sign up today and start discovering new wines.
Vina Progreso Revolution Tannat 2020
Vina Progreso takes its name from the Village of Progreso, located in Canelones, Uruguay. Consider the best site to grow grapes in the country. Revolution is 100% Tannat aged in French oak for 4 months to add complexity. It shows excellent density in the mouth with flavors of plum, blackberries, a touch of vanilla, and smoke with a long persistent finish.
Revolution is not a heavy and tannic Tannat you might expect. Instead, the young winemaker Gabriel Pisano treats us with fruit-forward and fresh wine, with some easy tannins. Perfect for all grilled meats. Cara Sur Criolla Chica 2020
The project of Cara Sur was formed with the mission to revive ancestral vines and produce wines from Traditional Argentine varietals, like Criolla. Rockstart winemaker Sebastian Zuccardi decided to age the wine for 8 months in concrete egg vessels to add texture but keep all its freshness. Aromas of fresh strawberry and cherry jump out of the glass with a hint of rose. On the palate, the red fruit shines with fresh mouth-watering acidity. Cara Sur Criolla is a sexy red that you can sip chilled. Cheers! Roberto Rivera Instagram @roberto.uncorks |
