The number of distilleries is growing in Germany so its reputation. So when my man, John of Bowler wines & spirits, emailed me to taste the new release of Eifel, I quickly replied: Ja Bitte/yes, please! The latest edition is matured for an extra six years; it's smooth, it's delicious. In my opinion, it's one of the best single malts coming from Germany, and I've tasted a lot of them.

Eifel German Single Malt Whisky "Edition 2021"

The latest release, Edition 2021, is a nine-year-old single malt aged to perfection in used Bordeaux barrels and ex-sherry casks; this aging combo adds beautiful fruit, complexity, and texture notes to the stunning whisky. 

Pure vanilla, dried apricots, raisins, and butterkekse(german butter biscuits) aromas practically jump out of the glass of this delicious single malt. The palate is intense, balanced with bitter citrus, cinnamon, coffee, dried fruits with a unique finish of caramel, creating a complex and distinct whisky with plenty of personality. Enjoy it on the rocks.
