We recently tasted a phenomenal value-driven red from Chateau Peyrasol. This lip-smacking little gem from Provence's "back country" is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with some Syrah in the mix. Harvested from the oldest vines on the estate and from several prime parcels, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and is then aged in barrel for 2 years before bottling. Juicy and fresh balanced with a little rustic garrigue indicative of reds from Provence, this is an easy-drinking and compelling wine with bright acidity, succulent fruit, and a subtle savory component that befits its Mediterranean origins.
